Wow, the time has flown by and now its the New Year. Its been over 6 months since I last posted anything and to be honest things have been very quiet. Jen and I have been enjoying time at home with out kids, friends and family. Sometimes you simply need a break. So we took one.......... lol.

Well, now that the New Year has started its time to get back to editing images. I will be posting some images of things weve shot since the last 6 months to get everyone caught up on whats being going on in our lives......... hope you all enjoy the pictures and again thank you for supporting our passion..........

The year is halfway gone........

Well, June is fast approaching. Which means kids will be getting out of school, summer will be officially starting (started in January for those of us in the Valley), and the year will soon come to an end. Its been a while since we've written a blog, but the truth is we have been BUSY. We have had 3 weddings in the last 6 weeks, Graduation & Senior Pics, Baby Pics and Family Pics. This coming week we have 3 shoots followed with 3 for the following week as well.......... Dont get me wrong, i'm not complaining, being busy is a good thing. Its great to capture other peoples moments and expressions. So if you have not shot with us yet, give us a call or send us a message and stop on by to take some pics.

With that said, we will be making a few changes to our business structure and style. Although Jen has a genuine interest for photographing children and families, it is something we will no longer be doing. We have taken pictures of newborns to toddlers and families of 2 or 3o upto 32 at one time. Althought they were great experiences, it really does not fall into our business structure. We really want to focus on taking pictures of adults, engagements, weddings, portfolios, seniors & graduation and pictures for aspiring models....... Taken pictures of children and families require a lot more attention, especially in the editing faze when you have a large group of people. We have made a couple of commitments to some individuals (you know who you are) to take your pics and we will follow through with those. But in all honesty, even since we have changed our structure and approach we have been shooting 2 to 3 different events or people a week.

We are currently also offering (TFP time for prints and TFCD time for CD) for aspiring and/or new models. If you are interested give us a call or send us a message. Thank you.......

Joe Walla Pics.........

So in-case you have no idea who we are talking about....... Joe Walla is Jen's older brother. I know, the similarity between the two is jaw dropping right....... Well it is Jen's brother. He is a musician in the L.A. area and has been on a couple of radio stations and has won a couple of awards, including THE ALL ACCESS guitarist of the year........ So, he came down a couple weeks ago and we went out hoping to get some good promo pics for his new album and cd to be released later this year. We had a great time, took some great shots and have had a lot of great responses from different people. We were also able to take some pics of his custom Delaney guitar and we are now on their homepage............ so check us out. Continued Professionalism...

As many of you know, Jen and I strive to improve ourselves and our skills with all new technology and techniques. We not only participate in local and online training but we also surround ourselves with others in the photography profession to learn from their mistakes and successes. Since the launch of our business and site Jen and I have become members of several well known professional photography organizations and education groups. I myself am a proud member of NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals) and I strive to teach myself something new on a daily basis. JBenito Photography is also registered with the PPA (Professional Photographers of America). I have also recently gone back to school to complete a degree program in Graphic Design and Multimedia so that I can stay on top of all of the new and innovative technology and editing techniques and applications available to photographers. To top it off we are both currently completing a certification program through the NYIP (New York Institute of Photography) to improve and update our current photography certifications and training.
I hope you are able to see that we strive to provide the best services and techniques and make your experience with JBenito Photography a pleasant one. We truly strive to provide you with images you dream of................

Picture Party...............

A friend of ours, Naomi Wendell recently hosted a picture party for her "Mommy and Me" club in El Centro. We were able to take pictures of over 6 different families and plenty of kids. I must admit it was a new environment for me. I know Jen is used to taking pics of kids, but I am not that familiar with it, besides photographing my children. In all honesty though, it was very fun and we had a great time. So if you get a chance stop on by and check out our pics.........

Mann Wedding

Wow, so we finally got to shoot our first out of State wedding. On November 21st we hit the road and traveled to Las Vegas to shoot a wedding on top of the Stratosphere. It was a very long day and night but we had a great time. Lighting like always, could have been better but I think we were able to get good prints of all of our images. I am still editing, mostly because of harsh lighting conditions but I know our final edits will all look amazing........ Matt and Lisa had a great time with friends and family and the ceremony itself was short and sweet.
After the wedding we all walked around the Stratosphere, got on the "Top of The World" ride (Matt, Tony and I) and then piled in our cars and went out to dinner. After dinner we took some couples pictures of the happy couple and then headed off to a Las Vegas Show. I must say, not bad for one days work........

Mommy & Baby Pics.....

This week we were able to take pictures of a friend and her baby. It was our first "mommy and me" pictures and our first solo baby pictures.

This shoot provided some great experience for us and some great additions for our portfolio. Taking baby pics. is a new experience for me, and once they start crying I just want to hand them back over to mommy and call it a day. I dont have the stomach to hear them cry and calm them down to keep taking pics. Luckily for me, my wife has all the experience necessary to pull the job off......... so she did.

Engagement Pics......

Well, we finally got to take our first engagement pictures......... Things have actually been pretty busy for us and November is already starting too book up for us. I think this will be our first month that will tie up every single one of our weekends, so we are pretty excited.

We recently took pictures of some friends up in Alpine and Julian..... It was a neat shoot with a lot of nature and trees in the background. The weather was great and the natural lighting provided some great shadows and lighting effects.

Busy Busy Busy......

Well this week has been a very busy week for us. We started off the week by having two back photo shoots at the beginning of the week and our week isn't over yet. We will be taking pictures at my sons soccer game tonight also and we are taking family portraits for a church directory all day Sunday morning. After that my wife and I are off to Temecula for a couple of days. The day I come back I hop back in the car with another co-worker and head off to L.A. for another conference. So we will have a lot on our calendar for the next two weeks.

Stephanie Perez

So we have been a little bit busy. Right after the Rapp wedding we took some pictures of Stephanie (friend of ours)....... mostly for fun but also to give us a little bit of practice on different lighting effects and techniques....... I honestly dont think you can ever have enough practice......... Every single person is different and they have different features and tones and curves and angles..... so the more you practice the better your quality of work will be. We will be posting some of the pictures soon so be looking out for those in the days to come......

Rapp Wedding....

We recently had the opportunity to take pictures of George Rapp and Jeannette Keaton who are now Mr. and Mrs. Rapp as of September 20th, that is. It was a great experience and a beautiful outside wedding. Jen and I were very worried about the lighting because of the time of night. Maternity Pictures......

Well Jennifer's Friend Alexis is about ready to have her baby, 17 days left according to her last counter on MySpace I believe and we were finally able to get her in for a photo shoot. She was a great sport and had a great time capturing the beauty that comes with being pregnant. It was Jen's first Maternity shoot outside of her previous job and I must say she did a great job. Part of my contribution to our team is editing all of the pictures before final proofing and printing. And I must say when you have a beautiful pregnant women and a great photographer it makes my job a lot easier and less time consuming.
